6-27 Destination, Traverse Mich. Home of Bro. Louie..Yahoo!!

This day is given to Tom and Phyllis John

Old Grade Campground to Kewadin, Mich.

Gee! Slept in til 0800. Pancakes for b’fast and lazed around till 1100 and finally got on up the road to Traverse City, just a 44mi. roll. We found a shopping mall and pulled in to get our bearings. Brother Louie had given us a number to get in touch with Tom John, a good friend of his and also the Preacher for one of the Indian Churches in Kewadin. Tom gave us directions and 17mi. north of Traverse we found the Church and grounds. Cousin Allen was setting up for a picnic at the Lakeside and got us lined up to park the trailer for a few days.

Right off, we felt comfortable and we were invited to join in and we had a great bar-b-que picnic with plenty of very good food. Met several of the tribal members and they ended the picnic with a name drawing and prize pick. I got a cool floatee for one of our grandkids. Rain! Rain? Yes, rain started down just as we were finishing and so we headed for cover. Later that evening, Gail and I mushed off to find one of Bro. Louie’s singing hangouts. We found the Hayloft where there was a large crowd and very good country music. Later, I got to sing a few songs with the group and finally gave up the nite around 11. Had a great time dancing also. Meeting members and relatives of Bro. Lou was a very nice experience and we knew that this is a good place.

As soon as I met Tom I knew there would be a good friendship and as we met the other members this feeling grew. Tom invited us to stay at the church grounds and por gratis. They opened up the hall for us to use and this provided water, showers, electrical and a private paved area set back off of the street. Thank you Tom and your wife and family for opening your doors to us and thank you brother Lou for steering us to this fine place. Lo!
